Bob Zucker asked about the cell viability assay in which dead cells can be
detected after fixation.

Indeed, Allan Pollack developed the method combining Hoechst dye with PI
which can be used on live cells, which then can be fixed and measured later

We were using this method and its modification is published in Meth.Cell
Biol. (Flow Cytometry 2nd Edition) Vol 41, 15-38, 1994.
