M3 leukaemia/arsenic

Hi flowers,

We have a 35 yo female patient whose disease was diagnosed as M3
(promeylocytic) leukaemia with a t(15;17) translocation in 1992. At that
time her malignant population was CD34-CD33+CD13+HLADr- .

In 1995 she relapsed, with a malignant population CD34+CD33+.

In January this year she relapsed again with 50%
CD45weak+CD34+CD33+CD13+myeloperoxidase+ cells that were CD15-CD11b-HLADr-
in her bone marrow.

After treatment with arsenic, she had a transient leucocytosis (up to
36x10^9/L) with 90% CD34-CD33+CD15+CD14+CD11b+ cells with a folded nucleus
and a myelomonocytic appearance in her peripheral blood. This has now
settled down to 5x10^6/L.

We'd be interested to hear of any other experiences of arsenic-induced cells.

Yours, beth
