Doug:

I'd just like to clarify something from Jose Carlos' post. The StemCell
Technologies product/Kit (StemSep) he is referring to consists of a cocktail of
lineage specific antibodies (biotinylated), crosslinking reagent, and magnetic
particles to enrich mouse progenitor cells from bone marrow. This is a negative
selection system where the unwanted mature lineage committed cells are labeled
with antibody/magnetic particles and removed. This pre-enrichment system works
well with cells that are going to go on to a flow cytometry step because the
recovered cells have not been labeled with antibody (so you are not limited in
your FACS staining choices).

Although this cocktail was designed for immunomagnetic cell separation, it can
also be easily used as a pre-mixed cocktail of lineage-specific antibodies for
flow work. The antibodies in the cocktail (anti-CD5, anti-CD45R, anti-CD11b,
Gr-1 and TER119) are all biotylated and supplied as a cocktail in their own vial
at a concentration suited to staining for flow cytometry.
If you have any further questions about how this pre-mixed cocktail can be used
for your experiments, you can contact StemCell's technical support or write
directly to me.

BD PharMingen now has a "Mouse Lineage Panel" of five pre-diluted biotin
conjugates. They are the same mAbs that are commonly used in the lineage
"cocktails" for stem cell purification. The set should be available
mid-February. For more information, you may contact BD PharMingen or reply
directly to me.

Dear Douglas,

Miltenyi-Biotec has this kind of cocktail in a kit for purification of
LinSca-1+ cells. But I don't know if they sell the cocktail alone. You can
ask them. And Stem Cell Technologies also have it but again in a kit.

I hope this helps.

Jose Carlos
