The Scripps Research Institute has a position available for someone interested in state of the art flow cytometry and laser scanning microscopy. We have 7 flow cytometers and 1 new laser scanning cytometer coming in a week or so. We are looking for someone with a BA/BS or better and some experienece in flow cytometry in the research environment. The Flow Cytometry Facility at TSRI is a core facility that provides support to TSRI laboratories and occasionally to outside investigators as well. As a result, we see a wide range of applications that provide an interesting and challenging opportunity to the facility. This position will require the operator to interact with investigators, perform sorting experiments, and assist users that run their own samples on the analyzers. It would be helpful to have an understanding of multilaser systems, optics, computer networks, basic cell biology, existing flow software (CellQuest, WinList, FlowJo, WinMDI, etc..), immunofluorescent reagents, flow cytometry methods, and laser scanning microscopy. But, we'll hire a real person and be happy to train on-the-job. This will be a very fun and challenging position for anyone that likes flow cytometry. There is a brief lab description regarding the instrumentation at http://facs.scripps.edu/facslab.html. Anyone seriously interested in this position should email their CV to trotter@scripps.edu or telephone me at (858) 784-8251. All serious applicants will be considered, and the salary will be commensurate with experience. Joe Joseph Trotter, Director Flow Cytometry Core Facility The Scripps Research Institute 10550 North Torrey Pines Road La Jolla, CA 92037
