Can anyone point me in the right direction for immunophenotyping cells from cerebrospinal fluid. Specific questions I have are: 1. What kind of volume is usually taken 2. What are the normal population of cells - phenotype, nos. ? 3. Any safeguards/controls for blood contamination ? I should point out that we are looking to establish techniques to look at cellular infiltrates (if we can isolate any) in CSF of macaques infected with SIV/SHIV that subsequently develop NeuroAIDS. Any advice, pointers to papers would be most welcome human or macaque work.
