first I want to thank the many people who replied so fast and helped me to
solve my problem. Among the answer there were many people with the same
questions so here follows a summary :
there are (at least) 2 possibilities to transfer the data :
* transfer via DD floppy disks (format option 2 on the HP) copy the files on
the disk
On the mac, open consort file exchange insert the HP disk and transfer the
files, then open facsconvert and convert the files to open them in cellquest
or any other program
*transfer the files via a network :
you need FACSNET (BD) installed on the HP 340 with a IP number
set the HP in SERVER mode
you need the physical network (the cables) connection
you need FETCH installed on the mac
make the connection in FETCH = type the IP number of the HP340
you can change the file, view the files
get the files (BINARY) to a mac folder
now you can open the files in flowJo or you convert them (facsconvert) so
that they can be opened by cellquest
