Research Technician

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute cell sorting and analysis facility is
seeking a flow cytometry specialist to manage the daily operations of its
core facility located on the UCLA campus.

The facility is equipped with a three laser FACS Vantage SE Turbo Sort II
cell sorter and FACScan cell analyzer.

FACS operation experience required but additional course training can be
provided as needed.

Salary commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include:
	*	Conduct daily maintenance procedures including instrument
sterilization, calibration and laser optics alignment.
	*	Organize and facilitate FACScan training workshops to
educate scientists and graduate students on data acquisition and analysis
using Cell Quest software.
	*	Perform administrative duties involving the maintenance of
experiment records and scheduling of sorting appointments.
	*	Experience with cell sorting, cell cycle analysis, Ca++ flux
assays, single cell deposition and 5-color analysis is a plus.

Qualifications
	*	B.A./B.S or MS in Biology or a related field
	*	FACS operation experience
	*	Strong interpersonal/communication skills
	*	Organizational skills
	*	Mutli-task oriented
	*	Ability to work independently
	*	Troubleshoot problems effectively
