I would like to second the idea of setting up such a project. I think this is a really wonderful idea and one which is long overdue. Although like Geoff, I'm not sure I'm the person with the necessary organizational skills for this project I am willing to put in a good deal of effort, and can offer things like a web home, mailing list and a cvs server. Alternatively there's places like Sourceforge. Also I am willing to have a bash at organizing it if necessary. Heck, I can probably even do a bit of programming as well! :-) I'd like to put in my $0.02 now, that the project should be open sourced and put under a license such as the GPL so that the entire community can benefit in perpertuity. So let's hear from all interested parties and we can get the ball rolling.
