Dear Alice,
I think I know what is going on. The partner company has an existing
contract with Luminex (to sale systems for the old cost), however Luminex is
in the process of raising their prices. As soon as the "partner" company's
contract period runs out, they also will increase the price.
Sincerely,

Hi Folks,
We are starting to consider the purchase of a Luminex bead assay cytometer
(for
soluble analytes). I am generally pretty naive about marketing strategies
--- but I am
totally confused by the fact that Luminex has just quoted me about $49,000
for their
system, but Hitachi (a so-called "partner" of Luminex) has quoted me
$37,000 for the
same system. What is going on here? Has anyone bought a Luminex system
recently?
>From whom did you buy it? And, BTW, are you happy with it?
