Hello, Flow-ers, Recently, Verity Software House engaged in a collaborative effort to standardize DNA flow cytometric analysis involving many European and US laboratories. One of the results was a publication that demonstrates the benefit of a standardized approach, "Optimizing flow cytometric DNA ploidy and s-phase fraction as independent prognostic markers for node-negative breast cancer specimens," in Communications in Clinical Cytometry 46:3. A major part of this study was to develop an analysis strategy that would allow different operators modeling the same DNA histograms to get the same results. As many of you realize, this is not a trivial undertaking. A number of objective analysis rules were developed. These rules have evolved to a point where we now feel they can be taught to others. Our new ModFit LT Rule-Based Training System has been developed and recently released to teach this method to any technician.. This new teaching system culminates in a proficiency test, which will allow each operator to assess his or her performance with reference to a standardized, master result set. The Rule Based training system is compatible with Macintosh and PC platforms. Please visit our web site at www.vsh.com for more information, or contact me directly for more details.
