Time delay before sorting

Could anyone please tell me if there are any problems associated with a 2
day delay between blood collection and processing for T cell sorting.

I have a bone marrow transplant patient and we are sorting T cells for
further analysis (not culture).

Normally the blood is separated on a ficoll gradient then the cells stained
with a CD3 marker and sorted. Time restraints may mean that I cannot process
the blood immediately. If a delay is possible, what would be the best
conditions for storage of the whole blood or separated cells?

Thanks in anticipation,
