Hi Rich,

I have used the same module on a facstar+ in a BL3 facility sorting HIV
infected cells. Basically, the module creates a slightly negative air
pressure region within the sort chamber to avert the diffusion of small
inhale-able particles into the ambient air. Other than the added noise and
heat of the vacuum pump, I experienced no interference with the over-all use
of the cytometer (sorting, alignment, drop delay, yield, etc). However, the
time and effort spent confirming aerosol containment with T4-phage and E.
coli is another story.
