CD45 dims - in or out? revisited

greetings all,

I'm revisiting the topic of CD45 dim cells once again:

we have had quite a few clinical samples whose purities were muchly
affected by the presence of CD45 dim cells in the CD45/14 tube by
which we set our lymphocyte gate.

The purity correction is much different in simulset (automatically
excludes dims) or cellquest (manually includes).

These differences can be pretty high.

I am going to include a review of with/without on my webpage at

http://www.cd4cd8.com/cd45dims.html

this evening (Tues. May 23) so you can see the differences in B, Th,
Tc and NK cells (a lot of you already know what I'm talking about).

I wonder if there is any new agreements in labs who do clinical flow
and have to worry about what to report out? You all know how crucial
absolute CD4 counts are in HIV patients.

regards,

Maciej
