We have just examined a 74 year old male peripheral blood( WBC of 115,000) by flow and the results are consistent with B-CLL. The immunophenotype is as follows: CD19+, CD20+(dim), Kappa+(dim), CD5+, CD22-, CD23+, CD24+, HLADR+, CD43+(dim) and CD79a-(ZL7.4 clone). In addition, half of the B cells coexpressed CD57(moderate to strong intensity). CD38 and CD25 are also negative. Has anyone else observed this aberrant coexpression of CD57 on B CLL cells?
