Re: sorting bacteria

We sort bacteria regularly using a Vantage. We generally are not able
to see them above the noise level on forward scatter, so we generally
trigger on side scatter, with the side scatter amp in log mode. This
works well, although one must carefully adjust the fluorescence
obscuration bar to minimize drop drive noise in the side scatter
channel. We have not done this with the higher speed modifications -
if the drop drive noise is not a problem it should work in these
circumstances as well.
