I just sent something to the list on this. There will be a course perfect for Hematology users this summer at Northwestern. There are 2 big courses in Flow. The Chicago based course emphasizes the technical aspects of the methodology and data analysis . Participants will take a hands-on, active role in sample preparation, data analysis, discussion of results and assessment of problems/limitations of the technology. The Clinical Flow Cytometry course that has been associated with the Clinical Applications of Cytometry meeting is oriented towards hematology questions. Data analysis and interpretation is covered in small classes (6-15 student) using lectures and hands on manipulation of actual patient data. Topics include diagnosis of acute leukemia and lymphoproliferative disorders, minimal residual disease detection, stem cell enumeration, monitoring of immune recovery following bone marrow transplantation, platelet testing, molecular markers of neoplasia, apoptosis and cell cycle evaluation of solid tumors. The two courses are being combined back to back in Chicago this August (there is even a discount if you take both). For further information contact Carol Eckenwhiler at clea2@bemail.com , Dr. Charles Goolsby, e-mail: c-goolsby@nwu.edu , or myself.
