GAR-PE second antibody for intracellular staining

I wonder if anyone has experience with Caltag's goat anti-rat Ig-PE
conjugate used as a second antibody for intracelluar staining in mouse
cells? I see that most relevant publications use Pharmingen abs. Is there
a good reason? Caltag's product works fine for cell surface staining - does
it not get into my saponin-permeabilized cells?
Thanks for any suggestions. Barbara
