Hi I asked my friend who works for Melles Griot his thoughts on the red diode post.... Dr. Louise J. What may be going on here is thus a power supply problems. Alternatives are an issue with the bare diodes themselves. But certainly a six month lifetime is unacceptable - even though it should be covered by warranty. Andrew Turner Sales Engineer Melles-Griot Ltd. I have been told that the manufacturers rate their lifetimes at 15,000 hours --- but that they seem to need replacing in cytometers after about 6 months. Is this true? Any ideas as to what is going on ? Thanks! Alice Alice L.
