Greetings: Thanks to those who responded to my question, however, I'm still in need of some suggestions. First, to clarify the question: We need a general cell surface marker in order to autoclone vector producer cells that DO NOT have GFP - the marker will be used to detect a "sortable event" and allow a single cell to be deposited into each well of a 96-well plate. There are two projects, one will use 293 amphotropic envelope cells, the other will use A375 human melanoma. If anyone has experience with a general cell surface marker that does not seem to pressure viability, we would be most appreciative to hear what worked best. The additional suggestions that folks passed along to encourage viability (like using conditioned medium!) were great.
