Interesting Cases

In the past 24 hours we have had two fine needle aspirations of masses associated with the spinal column. The lymphocytes from one case had a normal immunophenotype, presumably reactive to the tumor, the lymphocytes from the second case were 49% normal T cells and 39% abnormal B cells -- CD10 dim, CD11c positive, FMC 7 positive, kappa light chain restriction. Actually, the interesting thing was that both cases, normal and abnormal, had significant numbers of convincingly positive CD20+ CD11c+ cells. This monoclonal is usually quite clean. Nothing in common except location.

Any comments on the odd phenotype or the occurrence of CD11c positive B-cells would be welcome.
