Following Robin Allen's question, I would like to share with you what we
heard from the last ISTH (International Society for Thrombosis and
Hemostasis) meeting (Washington, August 14-21, 1999).
Although the vW Collagen Binding Assay (vWCBA) is very reproducible, the
results are dependent upon the origin and type of the collagen used in the
test. Indeed, it seems that it explains why the type II von Willebrand
diseases are usually misclassified with the vWCBA.
Besides, I am personally glad that flow cytometry and especially
quantitative flow cytometry is making such major steps into the field of
hemostasis and thrombosis clinical diagnosis, being in this field since 1983
and in flow cytometry since 1994. We have a good fit there.

With my best regards,

Michel Canton, PharmD
