This is the Second posting of this message. I have had 41 responses so far and thanks to everyone who has responded. If you have not submitted information for this survey (especially lab directors-I only have 4 responses from you), please do so. Hopefully it will be a tool for people in their current position in salary negotiations and for those that are hiring new employees to know what the going rate is for operators or lab supervisors. I will probably post the results in the second half of July. I have been asked by some to conduct a salary survey of flow personnel. I would like to get responses from all categories of flow professionals from technicians to laboratory directors-in most of the survey results the lab directors are not responding-your information is very valuable so please take a couple of minutes to respond. All information will be kept confidential (please remember to send your answers to my e-mail rather than to the list unless you want to share your info with everyone). I will allow a couple of weeks for responses and then compile the data and post it on this page. Please include the following: 1. Educational degree 2. Years of experience in cytometry 3. Current salary (also include if you get paid overtime or for on-call work) 4. Type of institution 5. Job title 6. Number and type of instruments 7. If you supervise additional personnel and how many 8. Area of the country (in the US) or your country (if outside the US please try to give the US$ equivalent). Please include anything else you consider pertinent to the survey. Also please include any questions or clarifications you need. Send results to bnewsom@bcm.tmc.edu I will probably re-post this message a couple of times in the next weeks so there is no need to answer each query, it will be for the same survey. Thanks, Brian Newsom Director, Flow Cytometry Baylor College of Medicine
