I am pleased that I can answer following question posted by Arthur Roberts: >From your posting to the Purdue cytometry mailing list, it seems that you may be able to help me. For many years, I have purchased OKT11 from Ortho Diagnostics in New Jersey, USA which is directed against the T11-1 epitope of CD2. But I use the antibody in cultures, so must dialyze first to remove the azide. If you know of another source in the USA who sells the same antibody clone WITHOUT preservative, I would be grateful if you would let me know. Thank you in advance. __________________________________ Arthur Roberts Dept. of Medicine Robert Wood Johnson Medical School email: robertar@umdnj.edu <mailto:robertar@umdnj.edu> phone: 732-235-7790 Fax: 732-235-7792 Dear Arthur, Yes, you can replace the OKT11 antibody by CLB antibodies. For 10 years a go CLB had the first publication on the use of immobilised anti-CD3 for cell-proliferation. In 1991 R.de Jong et al published "Regulation of T cell differentiation by CD2 and CD28 accessory molecule" Immunology, 74, 175. This describes the use of a combination of two anti-CD2 antibodies against two different epitopes (clones CLB-T11.1/1 and CLB-T11.2/1) with anti-CD28 (clone CLB-CD28/1, 15E8) as co-stimulator. Since then you will find a lot of publications by other groups as well using the CLB-clones. The antibodies are specially prepared for use in culture systems, they are filled with a high concentration of antibody containing only 0.001% thiomersal as preservative. Besides these antibodies to T-cells it has been shown that the CLB antibodies against IgM and CD40 are also used for B-cell stimulation. CLB antibodies can be purchased in the USA by Research Diagnostics in Flanders, web site: www.ResearchD.com <http://www.ReasearchD.com> Best regards, John Voorn Product manager CLB Reagents tel: +31-20-5123246 Plesmanlaan 125 fax: +311-20-5123570 1066CX Amsterdam E-mail: J_Voorn@CLB.nl <mailto:J_Voorn@CLB.nl> the Netherlands Site: WWW.CLB.nl <http://WWW.CLB.nl>
