**degree and area of specialization**
B.S. in a biological science

**minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience**
Experience in flow cytometry, data analysis and familiarity with basic
computer programs required.  Experience in tissue culturing, standard
serological assays, and blood/tissue cell separation highly preferred.

**license/certificate**
Would prefer certification and 1 year experience in use of FACS
machines,ideally FACSCalibur.  Radioisotope & animal handling certification
- may be obtained upon employment.

**principal duties**
The successful applicant will provide directed technical support to
research projects on simian immunodeficiency virus and other viruses using
both in vitro and whole animal models.  Major responsibilities will be
routine monitoring of animal blood/tissue samples, and the introduction of
established flow cytometry methods/markers.
 Additional duties will include running standard serological assays, tissue
culture,daily monitoring of ongoing experiments and other research support
laboratory tasks.  The successful applicant will be trained in the safe
usage of a BSL-3 laboratory.  This position requires an individual with
mature work habits, a desire to learn, and good communication skills.
