Dear all, In a process of writing a review on multi-color techniques used for flow cytometry or microscopy I would like to cite the most early publications on multi-color excitation with a single light source. My guess is that in flow cytometry splitting of a single laser line for subsequent pumping of a laser dye would be the earliest technique. Or have people been using a laser in a multi-line mode, previously? Regarding microscopy, I remember that dual bandpass filters or double reflection dichroits were made available around the end of the 80s. I remember to have seen data from David Marcus, Omega Opticals, around that time. Is there any early reference for the use of such filters or dichroits in any type of instuments?
