Hi Dennis and others interested in the typing issue, I've written a stand alone apple script (NE2CQ) that you can drag files of any type or creator onto. It'll change the type to BDLM, and the creator to BDLY. It ignores folders but will take a memory-full of files at a time. You'll need to have the apple script extension switched on in your system to use it You can download it from my ftp site using fetch: ftp://facsmac.med.cam.ac.uk it's in the default ftp directory, and you should be able to pull it over using fetch. As an aside: FCS Assistant saves files with appropriate types for Cellquest (BDLM for list mode, BDHD for correlated and BDHS for uncorrelated mode), but it saves with its own creator (FCSA). This used to allow you to convert files by opening and saving, and to use the applescript that ships with it (Any to Cellquest or Batch Convert depending on vintage) to do batch conversion. If Cellquest doesn't see them any more it might mean that BD are filtering for BDLY as creator. Could you try it for me, I'll set the creator to BDLY in future versions if necessary. Going through FCS Assistant allows you to swap the bytes around and scale the data as necessary if the files come from DOS/Windows software like Coulter's and Cytomation's.
