Our department is going to be in the market
for a flow cytometer sorter and I was wondering
what the pros and cons, advantages and disadvantages
of say the, BD Facscalibur vs Coulter vs the other machines
 are.

I am familiar mostly with one make of machine and
I want to make sure I am not biased by my past experiences.

We were looking for a good general purpose machine
that will do mostly cell surface immunofluorescence
and intracytoplasmic staining as well a little sorting
when needed. Most of the projects are in mammalian systems-
no bacteria, virus, plants, marine organisms etc.

Please respond directly to me rather than to the group
to avoid offending one company or the other. I dont
mind hearing from the manufacturers of machines
provided they e-mail me directly, and identify their
affiliations clearly.

Thanks in advance
