We regularly count 320nm latex beads and bacteria on the
EPICS XL. We use a ratiometric method with yellow/green
reference beads (500nm). Final concentrations can be
calculated by the volume mixing ratio and the concentration
of the reference beads. The advantage of the method is that
it is not critical for system dead-times and variation in
flow rates. It also serves as on-line QC. Add detergent
(0.05% Tween 20) to avoid stickiness to the tubing.

Hello flowers:
Is any body out there in flow land who routinely counts fluorescent
microsphere (beads) using a Cytoron. Would like to get some input about
arriving at final numbers.
Thanks
Padma
