Our average transplants (allo + auto) per year are
bone marrow n = 170
peripheral blood n = 390
cord blood n=12

We are using both ISHAGE and a three color panel for subset analysis. We
have found excellent correlation between the two methods for total CD34
quantitation and useage of methods becomes protocol driven.
The ISHAGE is used for stat CD34 levels to evaluate donor/patient
mobilization to determine when to begin collection, quantitation of CD34 in
collection products prior to various purging techniques, or reference vial
thaws to QC transfusion products in which case we also include propidium
iodide to monitor 'damaged, non-viable' cells.
The majority of our CD34 evaluation is a series of protocol specific three
color panels for subset evaluation.
