To all who replied (and quickly!) to my query about temperature control baths
that can be hooked up to a FCM, thank you very much. We decided to go with a
Multi-Temp III, made by Pharmacia (GSA price: $2,179). This unit can provide
temperatures of between -10 and 90C and hooks up easily to the Elite's plumbing.
It comes to temperature rather quickly. We have used it successfully to chill
sorted cells and will soon use it to keep samples at 37C during Ca++ runs. The
only caution offered with this device: don't plug it into the outlet on the
underside of the Elite; when we did this it threw the circuit breaker for the
workstation. It needs its own outlet, as it sucks a lot of power.

Thanks again,

Gilbert
