Hi Matthias,

	Sorry for your troubles, having been there several times.  Not being 
an engineer, your troubles are not from your batteries.  The batteries basic-
aly used to remember your settings etc; that is why you can by-pass them. It
dose sound electrical based on the 'noise'. The only I can think of is check
your GPIO cable again for exposed wire or bent pin.  Also on the left side of
the display modual, open the door and check fuses, sometimes a charge accross
both plates will pop a fuse.  I hope it is that simple
