Advanced Techniques in Analytical Cytology II Conference Chair: Robert C. Leif, Newport Instruments Program Committee: Wolfgang Beisker, GSF-Forschungszentrum für Umwelt und Gesundheit (FRG); James F. Leary, Univ. of Texas Medical Branch/Galveston; Calum E. MacAulay, British Columbia Cancer Agency (Canada); Andrey I. Poletaev, Institute of Molecular Biology (Russia); John A. Steinkamp, Los Alamos National Lab. The focus of this conference will be on advanced technology for flow cytometry, image analysis, and cell separation including cell sorting. Both the scientific and engineering communities are invited to submit abstracts. Companies who manufacture components relevant to analytical cytology are invited to have their scientific and/or engineering staff submit technical papers characterizing their technologies. The suggested topics include, but are not limited to, the following areas: * new analytical parameters and probes * time-based detection systems * new methods for cell separation * high-speed sorting and analysis of cells and other biological objects * multiparameter cell analysis and data manipulation * new digital image analysis technology including advances in 3D imaging * new components for analytical cytology instrumentation including * ultraminiature systems * new dyes and probes * new and unusual applications of analytical cytology * new methods and techniques for standardizing analytical cytology measurements. This conference is just one of 33 topics to be held at the BiOS '98 symposium, which is part of the larger event called Photonics West '98: 24-30 January 1998 San Jose Convention Center San Jose, California USA TO OBTAIN ALL CALLS FOR PAPERS ELECTRONICALLY The calls for papers for all conferences in the BiOS '98 symposium are available on the SPIE Web site at http://www.spie.org/web/meetings/calls/pw98/pw98call_bios.html For a printed BiOS '98 call for papers or other information: E-mail: pw98@spie.org Fax: 360/647-1445 Phone: 360/676-3290 IMPORTANT DEADLINES Paper Abstracts Due from Authors: 30 June 1997 (post-meeting proceedings) Advance Programs due from Chairs: 28 July 1997 (post-meeting proceedings) Camera-Ready Abstracts due from Authors: 24 November 1997 Manuscripts Due from Authors: 29 December 1997 (post-meeting proceedings) GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING AN ABSTRACT Send a 250 word abstract of your paper, by 30 June 1997, in ONE of thefollowing ways: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- * SPIE WEB - Complete the convenient form found at SPIE Web site: http://www.spie.org/forms/BiOS98_submission_form.html * or E-MAIL each abstract separately to: abstracts@spie.org in ASCII text (not encoded) format.
