Many thanks to those who had suggestions regarding my struggles with the
autoclone on our 753. For anyone ever considering this, I was finally
able to identify the problem, and successfully sorted into 96 well plates,
although I haven't heard how the PCR went.

To recap, I couldn't get anywhere with the autoclone setup because I
the potentiometer meant to control the right-left positioning of the
stream had no effect. (BTW, I _had_ plugged in the 3-pin connector that
leads to this pot!) After some advice and a lot of meter wielding I
traced this down to the number 6 pin on the sort logic card (the unique
card of the 3 in the sort control module. The problem was, on 2 of the
three modules I have this pin isn't connected to anything! Luckily the
3rd had a wire soldered from pin 6 to a 100k resistor! This modules
still didn't work well, but after replacing 3 blown diodes everything
came together.

If anyone ever needs any help with this I'll be glad to share what I've
learned, and thanks again to all those who offered suggestions (and
sympathy). It really isn't that hard!

Steve
