Austin Lin inquired about negative control serum for use in flow crossmatching for transplantation. Here is a reply from my colleague: We, at the Lab of immunogenetics and Transplantion at Oregon Health Sciences University, use a single donor blood group "AB" male serum as our negative control. We recalcified a unit of AB plasma from our local blood bank, and have found it to be very reliable over the 3 years that we have used it. We found that the pooled negative control products gave us too much variability. If you have any more questions, feel free to write to me directly.
