CD ROM Contributions - Submission Instructions
Dear Colleague,
Thank you for your interest in contributing to the Purdue CD ROM Series! The following details are provided to ensure that all contributions are readable. Please read them carefully. A checklist is REQUIRED - please send it to us with your material.
Content: We welcome all (unpublished) research contributions. Please include a submission form with your material. Please note that the more information or explanation that you include, the more usable your contribution will be. In addition, more information helps us to place your work in the most logical section of the CD. Inclusion is based on quality of images and supporting information. Submissions with inadequate supporting information or unreadable files will not be included.
Format:
- Filenames must be 8 chars.3 chars and should conform to ISO9660 standards. Long filenames will not work!!! Use underlines instead of hyphens if necessary.
- Images and graphics are preferred in tif (uncompressed)format, in 150 dpi resolution if possible. Gif or jpg formats are acceptable.
- MS Word documents and Powerpoint presentations are fine. Please tell us the version used and platform. Text files are preferred in ASCII format.
- Movies are preferred in avi or mov format. QT and mpeg are also acceptable. If at all possible, please sent multiple formats, we will include them all. Animated gifs are helpful for those without plug-ins.
- Java applets ok, java scripts are not. We are working in HTML 3.2.
Submission: However you send your files, YOU MUST mail in, fax, email, call in, or include a completed checklist.
For file transfer, FTP is preferred. If you have multiple directories, please send your files as a zip archive with the directory structure preserved.
To FTP:
- Connect to ftp.cyto.purdue.edu
- Login as anonymous
- Your name as password
- Change directory to pub, then to cdupload (cd cd pub, then cd cdupload)
- Use binary mode (bin)
- "Put" your files - NOTE: You will NOT be able to see your files !! for security reasons.
- Inform us that you have sent it (Best way is to fax the checklist)
- We will confirm within 3 working days. If you don't hear from us, please resend and renotify.
If you cannot FTP your files, you can send them on diskette, 100 Mb zip disk for PCs, or CDR. Please do not submit binary files as email attachments - they typically get scrambled and are unusable.
Copyrights: Copyrighted material will be accepted ONLY IF written permission from the publisher is included.Copyright Transfer Form Unpublished research not slated for submission in the same form (to meetings or journals) is preferred. Individuals retain copyright of materials on the CD. However, material is placed on the CD with implied general permission to use the material for non-commercial purposes.
