4% Paraformaldehyde Fixative for Cytoplasmic Staining, Including Tunel

MAKES 250 mL

 
  1. IN A FUME HOOD, heat 200 mL of deionized water to near boiling. DO NOT BOIL.
  2. Add the following while stirring:
      1.  
        2.68 g sodium cacodylate Sigma C 0250
        1.9 g sodium chloride
        11.8 g paraformaldehyde Fisher T353-500
         
       
  3. Cool to room temperature, raise volume to 250 mL, and adjust pH to 7.2 to 7.4.
  4. Store at 4C in a foil wrapped bottle for no more than 1 month.
