Antigen distribution:
Thyroglobulin is a heavily glycosylated protein of 670 kD composed of two identical subunits and is synthesized by the follicular epithelial cells of the thyroid. It provides iodination sites for the formation of the thyroid hormones.


Application:
Monoclonal antibody 2H11 reacts with a partially defined epitope of human thryoglobulin also present on thyroglobulins of mice and rats. It has a high affinity for the thyroglobulin molecule.
2H11 is applied in the localisation of thyroglobulin in hyperplastic and neoplastic thyroid. In addition, antibodies to thyroglobulin may be used to monitor patients after treatment for carcinoma of the follicular cells.
These antibodies can be applied in immunostaining on formalin-fixed paraffin embedded human.
