Antigen distribution:
The intracellular protein p21 is a 21 kD protein and also known as wild-type p53-activated fragment 1 (WAF1). It is an inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks) and proliferating-cell nuclear antigen (PCNA).
Application:
Clone WA-1 reacts with human and other mammalian p21 proteins. This monoclonal antibody is positive on methanol/aceton fixed MCF7 cells and on UV treated fibroblasts. It stains breast carcinoma on frozen sections (methanol/aceton) and on paraffin sections (formaline fixation, microwave treatment prior to staining). The p21 proteins are membrane-associated signal transducers, which become activated by the interaction of extracellular growth factors with their target cell receptor. In activated form they play an important role in orderly cell growth and development.
Specifications:
Monoclonal antibody, clone WA-1 produces mouse IgG1 immunoglobulins directed against mammalian p21. This monoclonal antibody may also be used in ELISA techniques.
Typical working dilution in immunohistochemistry is 1:40
