Antigen distribution:
Cytokeratin 18 is normally expressed with cytokeratin 8 and is found in most simple ductal and glandular epithelia.
Application:
In neoplastic tissues, DC10 reacts with many benign and malignant epithelial lesions. The majority of adenocarcinomas and basal cell carcinomas express cytokeratin 18, whereas most squamous cell carcinomas do not. In general DC10 does not react with squamous epithelium.
Clone DC10 is used in immunohistochemistry on cultured cells and is strongly positive on methanol/acetone fixed cells. It may also be applied to frozen and Methacarn-fixed sections. It is strongly positive on simple epithelia including ductal and glandular epithelia. It gives a very strong reaction on paraffin sections and in immunoblotting.
Specifications:
Cytokeratin 18 antibody, clone DC10, produces mouse IgG1 immunoglobulins directed against a 45 kDa polypeptide.
A typical working dilution in immunohistochemistry is 1:40
