Specificity |
HLA-DQ, a
human Class II histocompatibility antigen (Mr 26,34 kDa),
distinct from HLA-DR and HLA-DP antigens. Recognizes a
common polymorphic epitope present on DQ molecules of
cells expressing DQw1 and DQw3 (usually associated with
DR1,2,4,5,w8,w9,w10) and absent from cells expressing
DQw2 (usually associated with DR3,7) |
Antigen
distribution |
10 ± 5% of
peripheral blood lymphocytes, >95% of B cells from
tonsil, 2% of thymocytes. Anti-HLA-DQ reacts weakly with
resting peripheral blood monocytes and T cell blasts
stimulated with mitogens. Anti-HLA-DQ reacts strongly
with some but not all tissue macrophages and dendritic
cells and monocytes treated with interferon-gamma. It
also reacts with virtually all B cell lines including
some myelomas, with some myeloid leukemias but only
rarely with T cell tumors. |
