CD56 is
expressed on approximately 10-25 % of peripheral blood
lymphocytes. CD56 is present on essentially all resting
and activated NK cells. CD56 is not expressed on
granulocytes, monocytes or B cells. Antigen density
increases when NK cells are activated. CD3-positive and
CD56-positive T cells comprise a unique subset of
cytotoxic T cells that mediate non-MHC-restricted
cytotoxicity. |
