CD14 is
present on > 84% of normal peripheral blood
mono-cytes, most pleural or peritoneal fluid phagocytic
cells, and most synovial mononuclear phagocytes.
Anti-CD14 has marginal-to-weak reactivity with peripheral
blood granulocytes. Anti-CD14 does not react with
unstimulated lymphocytes, mitogen-activated T cells,
erythrocytes, or platelets. Anti-CD14 does react with
monocytic leukemias (FAB classi-fication: M5), but does
not react with myelomonocytic leukemias (FAB
classification: M4), indicating primary reactivity with
mature monocytes and macrophages. |
