THIS DOCUMENT IS INTENDED FOR USE BY FACILITIES PERSONNEL IN DETERMINING THE PREPAREDNESS OF A POTENTIAL MOFLO LOCATION.

"Bench top" sized benches (2.5X2.5, 2.5X3, and 3X4) DO NOT INCLUDE A SUPPORT MECHANISM. Customer may purchase a cart/cabinet from Cytomation. Otherwise, the customer is responsible for supplying a surface(s) capable of supporting the following: optical bench, BTS electronics rack, and computer workstation (total weight ~1000 lbs).

The customer is responsible for providing a bench/desk for the MLS computer workstation.

Water-cooled lasers are "hard-wired" to house electrical. The customer is responsible for providing fused-disconnect-junction-boxes (Siemens JN422 or equivalent) for each laser.

MoFlo "footprint" consists of: bench size (plus recommended minimum of 18 in. service clearance around all sides), electronics rack, and computer workstation.

Pressure differential between inlet and return water lines must be a minimum of 20 psi (138 kPa).

Incoming water temp. must be above the dew point of the ambient air to avoid danger of condensation on high voltage laser circuitry.

Customer is responsible for providing fittings on in-house water lines to each laser---5/8 in. (16mm) "garden hose" type---one for supply, one for return.

De-ionized water is NOT permitted for laser-side cooling loop, distilled water is recommended.

Crate shipping dimensions will not exceed: One MLS electronics rack crate 30x33x68in, One MLS bench crate 64x56x23in, and typically three but no more than five misc. 60x32x45in.

MoFlo requires at least 12 "Hg, and 75-100 psi to pressure console. This can be achieved using a Gast vacuum pump and Jun-Air compressor, existing in-house lines, or a combination of these sources.

When installing lasers overseas, determine whether existing power falls within the range of laser power requirement. If not, a transformer must be supplied to accomplish this. Contact Cytomation Customer Service for specific receiving information or requirements.

Access (preferably within room) to fluorescence microscope is required in order to calibrate MoFlo drop delay.

Recommendations:

Laser(s), heat exchanger(s), electronics rack, computer console, and bench power strip should be wired to dedicated circuits.

The Coherent LP-5 (or larger) heat exchanger is recommended for cooling Coherent Enterprise series lasers---city water is not recommended.

For lowest beam noise, the voltage from each phase to chassis ground should be approximately equal on dedicated laser circuits.

To facilitate trouble-shooting, a telephone should be located near the MoFlo.

For maximum instrument stability, heat exchangers should be located remotely due to noise and heat dissipation. The remote location should be less than 100 linear feet away from the instrument with less than 20 feet of elevation change.

An Internet Service Provider or LAN connection within the room facilitates the download of software updates, E-mail notification of failures, etc.

MoFlo should be operated within an air-conditioned environment that is free from smoke, dust, and vibration.
