The institute building, built in 1982. The sculpture in the foreground is the antibiotic valinomycin, originally discovered by the All-Union Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry. The building itself is in the shape of a double helix.

The members of the Laboratory of Cellular Interactions, Division of Immunology, headed by Dr. Igor M. Dozmorov (currently in the United States) and Dr. Alexander Sapozhnikov.. Included are Dr. Elena Kovalenka (second from left, seated), Dr. Gennady Lutsenko (fourth from left, standing), Dr. Alexander (Sasha) Sapozhnikov (right, seated) and technicians Rema and Natalya.

The flow cytometry facility at The Shemyakin Institute. Dr. Alexander Sapozhnikov (shown here) directs the facility, which maintains a Coulter Elite cell sorter.
