Bu-Butyryl Esterase

Part Number: 7547074

Butyryl fluorescein is a substrate for many different nonspecific esterases in human tissues. Butyryl esterase activity measured with a-Napthyl butyrate has been used to identify different cell types and is generally high in normal monocytes and in some blast cells. Butyryl fluorescein is also a substrate for phospholipase A2, an early enzyme in the biochemical cascade leading to the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes.
Alternative enzyme nomenclature: phospholipase A2: lecithinase A, EC 3.1.1.3
