Bax is a 21 kDa protein that has extensive amino acid homology with Bcl-2. It forms homodimers or heterodimers withBcl-2. Apoptotic activity depends on a balance between both molecules.Overexpression of Bax accelerates programmed cell death induced by apoptotic stimulus. 4F11 antibody is specific for human Bax. It is suitable for immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemistry, on paraffin embedded-tissue sections after heat treatment. It stains a variety of human tissues including the stomach, the colon, the kidney, the pancreas and the breast.
