The CD106 antigen is a 90 kDa membrane protein which is present on activated endothelial cells, tissue macrophages, dendritic cells and bone marrow fibroblast. It is involved in the adhesion of lymphocytes, monocytes and eosinophils to activated endothelium. Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule-1 (VCAM-1) is an adhesion molecule which binds to integrin a4/b1 (VLA-4) and integrin a4/b7 on lymphocytes. 1G11 antibody inhibits T lymphocyte adhesion to TNF-stimulated endothelial cells. It has been evaluated in Fifth International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
