The CD79b molecule (B29, Igb) is part of the MB-1/B29 disulphide-linked heterodimer which is non-covalently associated with membrane-Igs to build the B Cell antigen Receptor (BCR) complex.CD79b is a 33-40 kDa glycoprotein and belongs to the Ig superfamily. The BCR complex is restricted to B cell lineage, expressed on the surface at the pre-B cell stage and is lost prior to the plasma cell stage. CB3-1 antibody reacts with the external part of the molecule and is to be used in flow cytometry.
