The CD62P antigen, also called LECAM-3 or P-selectin, is a 140 kDa molecule that mediates adhesion of neutrophil and monocyte to activated platelets and endothelial cells. It is expressed in the a-granules of the platelets and in the Weibel-Palade bodies of endothelial cells. Upon activation or thrombin stimulation, the antigen is translocated to the cell surface in both types of cells. Its ligands are PSGL-1 on granulocytes and CD34. CLBThromb/6 antibody recognizes an antigen preserved after platelet fixation. It inhibits platelet adhesion to eosinophils in cell adhesion assays. CLBThromb/6 antibody was evaluated during the Fifth International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
