CYTO-STATS

The CD25 (IL-2R1) antigen is a single-chain glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 55 kDa which is the low affinity receptor for IL-2 (IL-2Ra). In conjunction with p75 (CD122 antigen; IL-2Rb), CD25 antigen forms a high-affinity IL-2R complex. It is found on activated T and B cells, on activated macrophages and on T cell Clones. It is also expressed on Natural Killer (NK) cells enriched from peripheral blood lymphocytes by culturing in the presence of IL-2. It is absent from thymocytes and resting T and B cells. B1.49.9 antibody does not block the binding of IL-2 to its receptor. 33B3.1 antibody inhibits IL-2-driven cell proliferation. IL-2R1 and 33B3.1 antibodies were evaluated during the Second International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens. B1.49.9 antibody was evaluated during the Third Workshop.
